KIN-7023 Critical Communication in Science

Publish or perish is a fundamental truth in science. Active publication in the scientific literature is necessary to advance in many professional careers. Scientific writing has both rules and rhythms, and knowing them can improve the art in the work. This course provides an orientation to and experience with three key perspectives of scientific publishing: writing, reviewing, and editing. The course is conducted in English as the primary language used in scientific communication. Concepts, practical examples, and written assignments using the student's own material provide a framework to promote effective writing, critical reading, and professional presentation.
